Matt
McGorry, Orange Is
the New Black and How to Get Away With Murder star, has spoken openly about his
Long Covid battle. “It has dramatically changed my life,” said McGorry,
describing symptoms including debilitating fatigue, depression, dysautonomia,
Raynaud’s disease and brain fog, which he called “a cute little name for brain
damage”.
“Having to
still think about Covid fucking sucks. Trust me, I get it,” he said. “But
empathy alone is not enough without actions of solidarity.”
"According
to one report, 400 million people have been affected by long Covid. But it is
under-diagnosed and misunderstood. McGorry said in the video he hesitated to
speak publicly about his health “primarily because of fear of career
discrimination and also people making assumptions about what I can and can’t
do”.

Oct 2025: “Children and teenagers are twice as likely to develop #LongCovid after a second coronavirus infection as after an initial infection, a large new study has found. The study, of nearly a half-million people under 21, was published in Lancet Infectious Diseases”
“Reinfection really increases the risk,” said Yong Chen, the study’s senior author, a professor of biostatistics at the University of Pennsylvania.. “Your body really has a memory system and is really going to be hurt from recurrent infection.”
“The study was not designed to evaluate the effect of vaccines on #LongCovid, but it found that regardless of vaccination status, a second infection raised the long Covid risk."
Dec 2025: A new RECOVER study of 6.4M health records shows Long COVID risk has not decreased from 2020–2024. Incidence stayed stable across variants, reinforcing Long COVID as an ongoing public health priority.
