Protest TODAY: Luxembourg & Ireland united in opposition to Israeli genocide bonds

Luxembourg & Ireland united in opposition to Israeli genocide bonds

Protest at the Central Bank of Ireland, TODAY Tuesday 12 May, 12.30pm - 2pm

Conference in Luxembourg, Monday 19, May, organised by CPJPO and Amnesty International (Luxembourg)

A protest, organised by the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign, will take place at the Central Bank of Ireland on North Wall Quay, TODAY Tuesday 12 May 2026, from 12.30pm to 2pm.

Speakers will include Sarah Clancy, poet and activist, Tom Lonergan, IPSC, Rev. Steven Foster, Council on Social Responsibility of the Methodist Church in Ireland, Harun Siljak, Trade Union Friends of Palestine.

Why?
Israel Bonds fund Israel’s continued violations of international law, including apartheid, illegal occupation and genocide. Ireland is the “home member state” in the EU for Israel Bonds; CBI agreement to approve or transfer to a competent authority outside Ireland is essential for their sale. Following a massive campaign in Ireland last year, Israel sought a transfer of its prospectus to the CSSF in Luxembourg. In violation of international law and despite the recommendations of the Report on the Israeli Bonds Programme, CBI acceded to this request. While Israel Bonds are no longer sold in Ireland, the CBI and the CSSF are enabling their sale in Germany, France, Austria, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. Israel Bonds raise 15% of Israel’s exchequer funding.

IPSC Chairperson Zoƫ Lawlor said:
“The Genocide Convention is clear – Ireland must do all in its power to prevent genocide. The ICJ Ruling of July 2024 is clear – Ireland must not to render aid or assistance in maintaining the situation created by the continued presence of the State of Israel in the Occupied Palestine. It is unconscionable that, as we witness daily the crimes being perpetrated by Israel against the Palestinian people, the Central Bank of Ireland is actively enabling Israel to fundraise for these crimes. The Central Bank Commission cannot continue to evade its responsibility to end the egregious, unethical, and illegal enabling of fundraising by apartheid Israel.”

“We salute the solidarity movement in Luxembourg which has been campaigning against Israel Bonds since the transfer. The conference next week will be a significant step in the fight to end not only CSSF’s enabling of Israel Bonds, but in building the movement to end the sale of Israel Bonds in the EU and ending Israel’s impunity.”
